Captain UITTENBOSCH, DERRICK
Co-founder of SWAT Ministries, Derrick balances his criminology and communications studies at UFV with SWAT deployments and church activities. While university and his own research studies make unreasonable demands on his time, Derrick is always ready for a conversation about the Kingdom of Heaven and loves spending time sharing, discussing, teaching, and encouraging. With a Christian heritage stretching back over 400 years, Derrick has inherited a mantle of servanthood he likes to pretend is leadership.
Derrick's experience resume is quite varied and includes areas such as law enforcement where he served as a Loss Prevention Officer for large retailers and countless volunteer hours with local police, to first aid as a treeplanter and wildfire fighter in the backwoods of BC. After coordinating over 50+ shows, concerts, conferences, retreats, and outreach events, Derrick loves the excitement and challenge of bringing together all aspects of an event. A problem-solver by nature, his favorite moments are always when everything goes sideways.
Always a sucker for kids, Derrick loves spending time connecting and hanging out (read: playing sports) with kids of all ages; anywhere from 4 months to 40 years.
